What is a cookie?
A cookie consists of a small amount of data, often also a unique identifier which is sent to either the browser of your computer or your mobile phone (hereinafter referred to as a "device") by the web server and it is stored on your device for a certain period of time.
Every website can send its own cookies to your browser if the relative browser preferences have been enabled to do so. In order to protect your privacy, the browser makes it possible to specify whether a website can access cookies that it has already sent and it does not allow access to cookies sent by other websites. Many websites do this every time a user visits them so as to monitor internet traffic flow.
On this website, our cookies record information and preferences so that we can adapt the website to suit your interests. It is possible to configure the preferences of the device: to accept all cookies, to be notified when a cookie is issued, or not to receive cookies at all. By selecting this latter option, you will not be able to benefit from customised functions and it will limit you getting the most out of browsing the entire website.
Every browser is different and is periodically updated; therefore please check the "Help" menu of your browser in order to learn how to configure cookie settings. Many websites use cookies to carry out useful control processes, such as to discover whether the device has recently visited the same website and to make the website browsing experience easier in the future.
Session cookies and persistent cookies
On this website, we can use cookies that have a lifespan equivalent to the single browsing session, which therefore will expire in the moment in which you close the browser session; or we can use persistent cookies that have a longer lifespan, which last even beyond browser session closure, but always for a specific time period.
What is the purpose of cookies?
On this website, cookies are used for one or more of the following purposes.
Strictly necessary purposes: these are cookies which are strictly necessary in order to provide the service requested by the user.
Performance purposes: these are cookies which collect information on how a website is used, for example, which webpages the user visits most frequently, and whether any errors are experienced.
Functionality purposes: these are cookies which allow a website to retain the choices made by the user (e.g. username, preferred language, products selected for purchase) and which provide the user with a more customised browsing experience.
How do we use cookies?
Information provided by cookies can help us analyse the preferences of visitors to our website as well as providing them with an improved browsing experience. For example, if, during a previous visit to the website, the user has chosen his/her preferred language or has entered a user name, we can re-propose these preferences during future browser sessions.
The cookies used on this website
This website uses different types of cookie, each of which has its own specific function.
